The beer is BACK! And this year, in honour of our Centenary year, our super raceday sponsors have pulled something FERRY special out of the barrel!

Behind the bar on Saturday 28 September, you can expect 14 beers, a lager and 4 ciders. What makes it just that little bit special, is that EVERYTHING on offer has been brewed in Lincolnshire.  The team at Ferry Ales have joined up with a range of Lincolnshire based breweries, from the relatively new Munyards and Luda right through to Batemans who celebrate their 150th anniversary this year!

So…what’s on the menu?

Our Centenary year has been focussing on the past, present and future of the racecourse. To make sure that we included this theme in our 2024 Beer Festival, the team at Ferry Ales are bringing the traditional Cask ales as a nod to the past, and introducing Keg, which is the more “modern” beer. If you’ve joined us at one of our beer festivals before, you’ll recall that we’ve previously only served Cask ales. So this year is all about trying something new!

Cask beer is known for being traditionally British. Cask beer is a “live” product, with the yeast continuing to work again in the cask. In fact, it’s the yeast that creates the head when hand pulled out of the barrel, and naturally carbonates the beer. You really need to know what you’re doing with Cask ale, it takes skill, science and most importantly perfect timing to ensure perfect pint after pint!

Look out for the Cask star of the show in 2024 – Green Imp! Green Imp is only produced at this time of year and is a one-off, different every year. The name comes from using green hops, with each year completely unique depending on the harvest. This year the team have used a Challenger hop, giving a slightly fruity character with a bit of spice and a bit of green tea!

Keg sets the bar for the more “modern” way of serving craft beer. The art of producing kegged beer involves more technology, and gas! If you like your beer slightly colder and fizzier, look out for the 7 tap keg wall behind the bar on Saturday and make your way through the menu!

The number one Keg to look out for on Saturday is – Solar Star. Thanks to Amelio Energy, one in six of FAB’s beers is produced using solar energy!

Now in its seventh year, The Ferry Ales Brewery Beer Festival Raceday on 28 September 2024 is set to be another incredible day at the races. Expect thrilling Jump racing, live music, and free entertainment in the beer garden by the barrel!
